rothmans is back with there 7th release and this time they pay homage to german playmaker paul breitner . the ep comes in the form of rising manchester producer ste spandex , fresh off the back of his remix of coyote our on rothmans 6 , and has been recorded 100% live on analogue eqiupment , not a computer in sight !!!! . the ep finds rothmans taking a slightly different and more up tempo vibe to it but still retains the psychadelic nu disco feel of many of there earlier releases. spandex has had a little help from his friends in the form of kickin pigeon and metrodome , both fresh out of the manchester underground. this is rothmans first all manchester release and sees them really cemeting the label in there surroundings.

merck 274350 with its propulsive mechanical basslines, industrial-strength percussion, and a germanic vocodered mantra, this teutonic panzer tank of a track takes absolutely no prisoners - an electronic matter of fact statement inspired by the passing of time, fate, circumstance, and synchronicity. holland s misanthropic high priest of psychedelic, doomy, dark house & techno, drvg cvltvre, delivers a trippy interpretation, turning the track into a lysergic love letter to this iconic chemical catalyst, maintaining the dynamic bassline of the original but adding a nagging 303 line to deliver an explosive 3am dancefloor device. one step closer to heaven begins with a metronomic, rhythmic new beat stomp and a nagging insidious synth refrain that recalls the more electronic side of new order. muscular synth riffs then drop in and out of the mix, taking the track into dark ebm territory and ramping up the pressure before the influences of giorgio moroder and cerrone come to the fore, propelling the track into a rapture of hypnotic celestial electronic disco.

a bold move to cover a daft punk record? perhaps but off msg and vocalist hadi create a respectful update of the oft overlooked romanthony penned finale to daft punks second album. too long is one side of vinyl and 6 minutes of classic infectious house music as uncomplicated as it is effective. sounding not unlike an early marshall jefferson / jungle wonz record. hadis vocal leads the way, underpinned by loose house beats, live tambourine, a when house was discos little brother bass line and analogue disco stabs that punctuate the space. strictly limited to 500 hand stickered, stamped and numbered with no repress. these will not hang around mastered by original two lone swordsman mr keith tenniswood.

nsm002 is me, mosca, again. two not-house not-techno tracks, a little more raw and textured than my last 12inch but with the same emphasis on dark, sexy grooves and just enough dissonance and freakiness. the greyhounds is a dubby rolling thing with an indulgent breakdown that i wondered about scrapping. i ended up backing myself because the crowds i played it to seemed happy, and ive wanted to use those strings for eleven years now. i tried to make clinical trial for the basement clubs, dust and metal and tape. thanks for checking it out.

make no mistake, for vault series 15 the doors have been flung open to welcome a new act to the fold. theres very little known about mistake made. no records or releases exist to date, but they have impressed vault chief subjected enough to have them join the sequestered berlin-based crew. and in sublime compliance with the vault series creed, this debut effort from the shadowy outfit presents yet another set of functioning and frill-free dancefloor material, complete with a rusted-through hue of its own. on the a-side >wrist< jumps straight in with marching intent, complete with fidgety hat work thats both anxious and infectious. then on the flip, >ricochet< opens with field recordings tossed into a stormy concoction of ticks, hats and fuzzy atmospherics, teamed up here with one of those basslines that will keep you glued to the floor. >indec< then concludes in signature vault series style an ominous, growling number rattled with alarm bells and screeching, clangorous detail. its one of those monstrous slow-burners that leaves you wounded yet longing for more. all in all, a rounded first release from a new techno tour de force. this isnt the last we will be hearing from mistake made.

david k is the parisian-turned-berliner producer who has been a prominent artist within the underground house scene since the late 90s, having first joined forces with dan ghenacia of apollonia when releasing his bestseller * boul de nerf* on freak n chic. a fruitful career in production led to music on labels like cocoon, visionquest, supplement facts and bpitch control, while his new album * out of range * is just about to drop. ten years in the making and signed to tiefschwarzs souvenir, david proves his music is still as relevant today as ever. as one of the main artists on freak n chic, david k seemed a natural fit for apollonia to approach...* david is an old friend and talented produced who we have known from the beginning back in paris. of course we wanted to see what he could do for the new label, as you know by now we apollonia are always referring back to our roots. a 2-track package, * middle-aged romance* is characterised by its bell melody and hard-hitting bassline, an electric story moving between ethereal wonder and an intense workout. * drop the beat* perfectly demonstrates the classic chicago house style david k and apollonia first enjoyed together all those years ago, but adding a very modern, textured touch. coming 2014, apollonia invite premiesku to the label – the combination of livio & roby and their pal george g – and also the newest addition to the lola ed roster.

drew lustman is widely known for his work as faltydl but on 2000black we know him simply as drew. *put it out there* displays drews ability to take you on a musical journey within a club music track, whilst *a thorough study* takes a look at sonic emotion. the remix of *a thorough study* is by mr goodgood aka dego. strictly on wax for now.

demarzos sound is a meticulously crafted one. his toxic perfectionism and shrewd sense of rhythm lead him naturally to where he is today. his well-revised sets include anything from underground deep house to main room deep tech. after releases on hot creations, noir, glasgow underground or loulou records to name a few, arrives to sincopat with two secret weapons. holster is a cheeky but solid track which brings together groove and melody. analogue synths being added, it also presents changing voices all the way. for the remix, walker & royce take the deep way with a dry kick and sinister notes. pay attention to the astonishing breakdown. trigger is the second original track, in the same language than holster, and using some classic groovebox bullets. ramiro lopez, one of the sincopats golden boys, after his bedrock release, offers two fresh versions with different treatments.

orphx the veteran industrial-techno super duo strike again with their latest ep on sonic groove entitled sacrifice. filled to the brim with pulsing modular sound design and industrialized techno rhythms. orphx once again shine bright in a sound of darkness. highly recommended for those who like their techno and industrial tough but yet hypnotic.

marking a difference with the previous releases, the sixth chapter of the birdsmakingmachine saga comes as a two-tracker, announcing a special double pack that will be divided between bmm005 and bmm006. the a-side of bmm 005, >icaros<, is an elegant dancefloor warmer that encompasses all the signature ingredients of the birds, dreamy pads, jazzy hi-hats, metallic percussive elements and quirky fx touches. on the flip side we find >inland sickness<, a slightly darker affair fusing together eerie pads, whooshing sound effects, forming an intricate net of sound layers with a refined industrial touch but still bringing the pressure to the floor with a solid drum pattern. bmm 005 is yet another example of the birds’ ability to craft miniature grooves with an attitude.

very welcome reissue of the 12 inch vinyl version of the superb *onda* from brazilian soul legend cassiano. one of the founding fathers of the scene, a contemporary of and collaborator with people such as tim maia, hyldon, etc., cassiano only released a handful of lps and singles but the quality made up for the quantity and this 1977 polydor 12- features two of his best moments. side as *onda* is a lilting sun-drenched slice of pure soul heaven with a grooving b-line and sweet vocals that at nearly 8 minutes is still not enough - a truly captivating mellow masterpiece that you want to last forever... the flip side is no less accomplished - an upfront bass-heavy funk jam guaranteed to whip the dancefloor into a frenzy. essential!

rafael da cruz 1st black label 12inch finally hits the streets, dipping into deeper, gloomier spheres of house. soaring synths cleverly trim the bed of fat broad baselines. the black 80s give the original a wicked analogue touch, with a splendid soulful vocal version as bonus track. cosmic cowboys and david hasert supply two impressive remixes that both create a dark, but uniquely vibrant scenery and complete the package.

yawn zen is la-based hip-hop producer ringgo anchetas debut album for stones throw. mndsgns psychedelic beats have already won him fans such as danny brown, who snapped him up to produce a track the lead track for his classic drug referencesrelease and bbc radio 1s benji b. dazed & confused described him as *one of the west coasts finest beat-smiths… each track is a patchwork of lush electronic samples blended together to create warm, sun-drenched little charmers.* on yawn zen, his debut for stones throw, mndsgn has carved himself an unusually calm-sounding place in the los angeles beat scene. the influence of labelmates madlib and j dilla on this on this collection of laid-back beats is never far off, but yawn zen has a psychedelic, jazzy flavour that equally recalls the likes of flying lotus, gonjasufi and samiyam. the vinyl lp includes a download code.

vasista, the first track of leskin’s ep is a pure analog techno weapon. it’s a vigorous rhythm makes of this track a proper dancefloor killer. its major asset is probably the break’s trick that offer leskin and which leaves no one indifferent at first listen. with monkey track ii , leskin if taking us on a dreamlike deep journey. half fanciful, half raw, the result of this combination is a captivating track! on the b side, the last track of the ep is a remix by “ el pingon “ (no one but greg beato himself). el pingon has captivated the essence of the original track and brings a hint of jungle and sprinkle drum&bass. the signature mysterious broken beats and blurry sound effects close this track with sublime class

the first part of another golf channel double header from the insanely prolific and scarily on form combination of dean meredith & ben shenton. a side *c.e.r.e.m.o.n.y.* has been dubbed the barnyard stomp by split secs / sonns travis kirschbaum (aka tk disco) - 11 minutes of bluesy peyote riot that features derek holt of 70s black country legends the climax blues band. b side *hiding from my shadow* is ripe with the funk too, but takes us away from the fertile stench of the psychedelic session in the barn and instead channels minneapolis via stafford as p-funk squiggles give way to mr. meredith’s trademark chugging bass. metal and technology vs mother earth in an elemental battle - both sides win! golf channel every time !

tiagos interzona 13 label has quietly gone about its business across three acclaimed and sold-out eps. his unique reputation as a dj is matched by the distinctive and unrivaled quality of his productions. for his fourth outing tiago treads an arguably more experimental path, and using sem titulo (untitled in portuguese) on three of the cuts here only adds to the mysterious nature of the sonic treats within. present, as always are the deft rhythm sections and powerful arrangements, as subtle elements of disco, techno & new wave provide the bedrock for his trademark off kilter melodies and soundscaping. the darker underbelly of club life may well be the inspiration, but the mood and execution are pure tiago! another beauty then from this outstanding, diverse and incomparable imprint.

berlin techno was the big thing over the last years, but you might know that in german cites like hamburg and munich there is a huge growing experimental house scene. hamburgs diynamic records crew or munich artists such as sascha sibler (innervisions) or cocolores (exploited) are equally well respected as the big names from berlin. one of the fresh new labels is toy tonics from munich and the raising stars of the labels are rhode & brown.

we dont really know if the young bryan kessler listened to kraftwerk, but then again we didnt ask - who cares, anyway? what’s certain, however, is that this punk renegade, songwriting wunderkind and all-around exceptional producer is a man of many faces, and all of them rock. discovered on stage while spouting anarchist pop slogans and showcasing an impressive underage mohawk haircut, he never was to be a bottled genius sticking to only one gun - and soon set out to become the lead singer and guitarist for neo punk nutters the pollywogs, while embarking on an equally public career as prolific dj and dance music producer

the 6th offering by public possession comes from our old friend anton klint. we have been playing records together for many years and he is for sure one of the best rock/disco djs we know. he has put out a few records together with his partner edvin edvinson as tiedye in the past, but this is his first ever solo production to be released. we are very happy that we could work with him on this one and are now able to present to you the spritzer ep.

with his new album “ghosts from the past”, mr. fürstenberg doesnt say goodbye to an old chapter, but he is rather building a bridge to a new one. familiar elements are the mortar to a complete musical piece, with an extended foundation, new accents, and a fresh face. gftp is a musical retrospective of a new way of life – with a child – that was born in november 2010. the conception and creation of this album began to take form in parallel to that of his unborn son, as an almost aural twin. markos wife helped with the album artwork while also carrying a little marko inside her. so again the past was knocking on the door. good morning!

two years after his debut single he returns with a five track ep featuring i wonder why and four other tracks. his previous work was recognised early by the fader but instead of pumping out more releases, he took his time and the result is a great progression as a producer. not only was the ep recorded at his home, different rooms were actually sampled in the process. all with an increased number of textured synths en better drumlines blending into an ep with a very organic sound.

melancholic, subdued, tranquillised but packed with energy, theres something for every dancefloor out there.

tekseven records. hailing from belfast n.ireland. the opening track orbit by tekseven is a trip into an off beat world of heavily laden beats, baselines, synths and sci-fi, evolving vocal lines seemingly sampled with precision from an old 50s t.v set somehow reminiscent of robert hood. the remix from uk artist binny continues along the sci-fi theme with a beautifully crafted ambient intro which turns into a thumping good retro feeling techno track! on the b-side teksevens atlas introduces us to some straight up no holds barred high quality light and shade techno that will loosen any dance floors rivets.last but not least is an excellent remix by mattias fridell verging more on the dub side of things with the deepest spacious bass that is a hallmark of his fine techno creations . all in all, a great first release from a brand new vinyl label. expect great things in the future.

hot city orchestra is a reformation of a band, which was originally formed in 1998. at the age of 17, arno völker (einzelkind) and simon birkenfeld became friends and started making drum and bass music together. they toured all over germany with their record label and had residencies at robert johnson in offenbach and tanzhaus west in frankfurt. after gaining years of experience within the breakbeat scene, arno went on to become einzelkind with releases on playhouse, cocoon, white and his own imprints la peña, jax and pressure traxx as well as worldwide dj gigs. simon was still focusing on his breakbeat career for another year, making an album with a uk drum and bass legend, but it was never released. he stopped making music and started focusing on his career in pr and marketing, where he mostly worked on music and art projects. during this time, the long-time friends arno and simon came up with the idea to launch the blog-network-project www.disco-very. net now, 16 years later, after making first beats together, the boys are back! a tiny bit older, much wiser, more handsome and around 50 bpm slower.

to unearth a forgotten gem and bring it to a whole new audience is an unbeatable feeling. label boss gregor tresher has been keeping his very own jewel under wraps for many weeks, but the time has come to unveil his beloved anthemic set closer.

after a best-selling debut record, low budget family - an independent moscow-based record label run by the crew behind the legendary shop&bar denis simachev formation return, and how! king solomons mines from simple symmetry is quite a classic in the making - a deceptively simple workout that reminds of mid 80s boyd jarvis jams, but shot through with 21st century twists and turns, that amplify those tough drum machines, anthemic afro elements, chants and marimba riffing. add a truly dynamic arrangement and you have a dancefloor dynamite! it is disco royalty on the remix tip as soft rocks & brennan green step up. as expected, given the incredible ingredients, the two of them shine. soft rocks set up a classic euro flavoured afro-trance workout, utilising the parts against a far more electronic and unrelenting backdrop, building to a sweaty, strobe-lit finale. brennan green may be less than prolific these days, but he is dependable as ever here. working up a synth-soaked, prelude style dub, whose classic elements will work the floor from here to zanzibar…

*somebody* is the first single from the new aurra album *body rock* due out later this year on family groove records. once again the world gets to experience a lost disco-funk masterpiece providing another glimpse into the genius mind of slave founding-member steve washington & brides of funkenstein / p-funk singer sheila horne. body rock will be the second and final unearthing of the lost but found master tapes originally recorded for quincy jones qwest imprint in 1984. slap bass, heavy synths, linn drum, sultry vocals... this is modern funk at its finest!
the 24-track master tapes were transferred digitally and then mixed on an ssl board by kamal humphrey at his all-analog flying carpet studios in los angeles. the result is a full sound enhanced by the natural analog process using todays digital technology only when needed to clean up the files.
da-m-funk adds a bit of dirt and grime by putting his signature re-freak on the track. a confirmation from los angeles ambassador of boogie funk that this is in fact the the un-cut funk and nothing but the funk.

fred p immerses himself further into his techno alter ego, bringing more depth and insight to the saga, using sound to transcend time and space. *serinatatis* starts off the proceedings with a relentless drive and lofty pulsating pads that give you the feeling of a dismal oasis, with its brooding bassline and obscure vocals penetrating the construct. *dark population* takes us further down the rabbit hole into deeper rhythmic vibrations. this hypnotic ceremonial floor shaker echoes the cerebral ethos of the ep. last, but not least, *convective zone* cracks the sky and lets the sun shine in with its rolling baseline and ethereal chord structure. homage to the term techno soul is paid in full here as a trumpet blares through without losing the depth of the moment.

surf dude is stockholm-based producer hnny poppin the cherry on the brand new label yummy. released in a see-through limited edition vinyl, dressed as crisp as those milky waves only a cocky surf dude would try to conquer. hnny has been yearning, and kissing and sneezing us up on the dance floor. but now its time to deliver his tunes in his very own honey pot, and boy is it yummy!

mauser hails from chicago, illinois, but his production covers far more ground than chicagos no.1 import, house music. the block sees mauser diving into his many influences, including house, techno, hip hop, drum & bass, soul, and funk. combining tight, funky drum programming with a diggers ear for samples, this diverse ep has a little something for everyone!

it would be easy to say that molly nilsson needs no introduction, but these things take time is an introduction.

trunk - and branches fetched by klangscheiben manager demas with diligent helpers from the forest. they built a wooden house of joy in the middle of the thuringian pampa. in the tree house they set up a small vinyl manufactory. what counts is lively, honest craftsmanship. hunter s tree! here they are, the pieces of wood, uh vinyl. scratched into the inner bark stands out: artists have placed their saws and axes in the shed and carved a few tasteful sounds in electronic sisyphean. chapeau et voilà, because what s crawling out of the wood boxes (clearly!) is not a worm, but musical understatement with pure groove research and a commitment to a culture of sound of the early perlon vinyls. oh god, always these analogies... but there were, no, there are good times for good music! this is magnificent fizzle funk with emo edge. relish and dance!

there are two styles that dachshund does particularly well, airtight dance-floor grooves and lush emotive deep house. the towards others ep leans largely to the latter but with a knowing glance to the floor.
